Split Croatia
After 19 hours of travel, Kate and I arrived in Split Croatia around 5pm. We dropped our bags in the hotel room, then headed out for a walk through the Old Town.
It was a short walk down the hill to the water. Here is a photo of the waterfront looking back towards the center of the Old Town of Split.
There had been some rain during the day, and the polished stone was still a bit damp in places. This made the footing occasionally slippery.
After grabbing a light bite to eat, we returned to our hotel room. Having slept poorly on the red-eye flight, we were both quite tired. However, we managed to stay awake until 9pm to help overcome the time zone change.
This morning, we met the two guides and 5 other members of the Trek Travel walking tour. The tour is 6 days and will ned in Dubrovnik on Friday. Our walk today was through the Marjan Park which is a peninsula from Old Town Split into the Bay of Kastela.
This is a photo looking back as we climbed our way to the top of Marjan Hill.
As we got higher, we were rewarded with views of the surrounding areas. Here is a view looking back at Split.
In the park, there are several small chapels such as this one.
Approximately 80% of the population of Croatia identifies as Catholic.
Here is a final view from Marjan Hill, this time looking out towards the nearby islands. Tomorrow we will be traveling to Krka National Park which is known for its waterfalls.
