NC Biking - Day 6

Today’s ride was fabulous, but this will just be a brief post. The climbs were all very manageable and the descents were tremendous fun. We started south of Asheville about an hour’s drive from Brian’s house. Bud also joined us again.

From the start, the roads were beautiful.

The first half of our 50 mile ride was largely uphill, but with flats and short downhills mixed in. The grades of the climbs were reasonable with only relatively short periods over 10%.

A bit over half way, we crossed Tanassee Gap and started to descend. The roads were smooth, curvy, and not too steep. This allowed me to have lots of fun swooping around the bends at speed.

I do not have many pictures from today’s ride. I stopped briefly at one of the bridges to take this picture. However, riding mostly in the forest, and with the constant ups, downs and curves, today was much more about loving the biking rather than taking photos.

Tomorrow, Jesse, Ruth and I start our way back north. We have a ride in Tennessee planned before spending the night in Virginia.
